Mercedes GP: "Nieuw pad met uitlaatsysteem is veelbelovend"

Het team van Mercedes GP is optimistisch gestemd voor de toekomst. De Duitse renstal reed in de Britse Grand Prix met een nieuw uitlaatsysteem en de eerste signalen waren hoopgevend. De uitlaten van de W02 waren op Silverstone langer, een beetje zoals bij Red Bull Racing, Ferrari en McLaren al het geval was, om de efficiëntie van de blown diffuser te verbeteren.

Mercedes GP-teambaas Ross Brawn is tevreden. We bevinden ons op een nieuw pad met ons uitlaatsysteem. Bij het vorige systeem hadden we alle potentie er wel uit gehaald en was het moeilijk om nog verdere progressie te boeken. Het nieuwe systeem is veelbelovend, het potentieel dat we zien is groter dan bij het oude systeem. De uitdaging is nu om de betrouwbaarheid en de installatie volledig op orde te krijgen, wat ons nog niet gelukt is. De veranderende regels met betrekking tot engine mapping hielpen ons niet, maar over het algemeen is het positief.

We zien de potentie van het systeem, maar belangrijker nog, we hebben dingen op komst die alsmaar meer profijt uit deze technologie en aanpak halen. We zijn vrij optimistisch, ik ben optimistisch dat we mooie stappen met dit systeem gaan zetten.
