Tost twijfelt aan nieuwe regels in snelle bochten

Aankomend seizoen gaat er veel veranderen in de Formule 1. Er gaan gloednieuwe reglementen in waardoor de auto's er compleet anders uit gaan zien. Inmiddels is dat vermoeden bevestigd, op de presentaties van de nieuwe auto's is te zien dat de wagens een compleet nieuw uiterlijk hebben gekregen.

De nieuwe reglementen moeten ervoor zorgen dat er veel meer spektakel komt. Op het aerodynamische vlak is zowat alles helemaal niet nieuw en de teams zijn hard aan de slag gegaan met de regeltjes. Het is de bedoeling dat de coureurs aankomend seizoen makkelijker met elkaar kunnen duelleren. Men zou elkaar nu makkelijker moeten kunnen volgen in de bijvoorbeeld de bochten, iets wat eerder nogal lastig was.

Niet iedereen rekent echter op die voorspelling. AlphaTauri-teambaas Franz Tost houdt namelijk een behoorlijke slag om de arm. Tijdens de presentatie van zijn sprak hij afgelopen week zijn zorgen uit. Tost wordt geciteerd door Motorsport.com, hij is duidelijk: "Ik denk dat de de auto's in de lage snelheidsbochten en de mid-speed bochten dichter op elkaar zullen rijden."

Twijfel

De hoge snelheidsbochten zijn wel een zorgenkindje van Tost. De ervaren teambaas denkt dat zijn coureurs en hun collega's een lastig seizoen voor de boeg hebben op dat gebied: "Ik twijfel wat over de high speed-bochten omdat deze wijdere auto's en de grotere banden altijd wat vieze lucht achter zich creëren. Daarom ben ik er niet zo zeker van. Laten we maar eerst de eerste tests gaan afwachten."

Van vuile licht kom je nooit helemaal af, de auto verstuurd uiteraard altijd de lucht en de banden zullen zeker turbulentie blijven veroorzaken. Er is echter ook niet gezegd dat de er geheel geen downforceverlies zal zijn, het downforceverlies moet wel drastisch minder zijn. Daarbij zijn veel percentages genoemd, die volgens mij per circuit en afstelling zullen verschillen.

  @Snork, mee eens. Indycarautos maken ook nog vuile lucht, maar dermate minder dat men daar bumper aan bumper kunnen rijden.
  
  Ook voor die coureurs is het lastig, maar het is voor hen mogelijk. Hopelijk krijgt F1 die mogelijkheid ook voor elkaar.
