Kijkcijfers F1 in de lift in Nederland: 81 procent hoger dan jaar eerder

Het was overduidelijk dat de Formule 1 het afgelopen jaar steeds populairder is geworden. De ferme titelstrijd tussen Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton kreeg wereldwijd zeer veel aandacht en de kijkcijfers schoten omhoog. Tot voorheen was het niet duidelijk hoeveel mensen naar de races keken, de Formule 1 heeft nu echter de cijfers gepresenteerd.

De seizoensfinale in Abu Dhabi spande de kroon op het gebied van kijkcijfers. Wereldwijd stemde ongeveer 108,7 miljoen mensen af op de race. Dat zijn 27 procent meer mensen dan tijdens dezelfde Grand Prix een jaar eerder. Ook de races in Bahrein, Silverstone, Monza en Brazilië trokken zeer veel kijkers naar de beeldbuis.

81 procent

Wereldwijd stegen de kijkcijfers ook met duidelijke getallen. In 2021 stegen de wereldwijde kijkersaantallen met zo'n vier procent ten opzichte van een jaar eerder. In Nederland schoten de kijkcijfers al helemaal door het dak, hier stegen de cijfers met 81 procent. Ook in de Verenigde Staten, Frankrijk, Italië en het Verenigd Koninkrijk stegen de kijkcijfers significant. Gemiddeld keken er afgelopen seizoen zo'n 70,3 miljoen mensen naar de races op de zondag.

Afgelopen seizoen had de Formule 1 nog lichtelijk last van de coronapandemie. Enkele races moesten achter gesloten deuren worden afgewerkt en op andere circuits was slechts beperkt publiek aanwezig. Toch bezochten zo'n 2,69 miljoen mensen de wedstrijden. Drie races verwelkomden meer dan 300.00 bezoekers: Austin, Mexico en Silverstone. Op Zandvoort zaten er zo'n 195.000 fans op de tribunes.

  Dat denk ik niet. Meestal is de interesse het gevolg van de prestatie van één persoon. In Duitsland zag je hetzelfde gebeuren toen Michael Schumacher de ene na de andere titel binnensleepte. Nadat hij een punt achter zijn loopbaan zetten werd de interesse voor de F1 beduidend minder.

  Van deze groep zullen de nationalisten afhaken zodra het minder sportief gaat met Verstappen. Maar er zal er ook een groep gebeten zijn door de racing bug en die blijven hangen.

Nou kijk ik al een hele poos F1, maar heb nog nooit F1 in de lift gekeken. Ik kijk liever vanaf het puntje van mn bank, maar kennelijk wint in de lift kijken aan populariteit. Mij niet gezien maar ach, ieder zijn meug ;)
