Australische premier roept op om Russische Grand Prix te schrappen

De Russische Grand Prix staat momenteel op de tocht. Door de oorlog in Oekraïne worden er wereldwijd stevige sancties genomen tegen Rusland en ook in de sportwereld neemt men maatregelen. De Formule 1 kan dan natuurlijk niet achterblijven en de roep voor een boycot wordt steeds luider.

Gisteren liet Aston Martin-coureur Sebastian Vettel al blijken dat hij hoe dan ook niet afreist naar Sotsji. Ook Max Verstappen zag niet zoveel heil in racen in een land dat oorlog voert. Bij het team van Haas nam met ook een rigoureus besluit, de Amerikaanse ploeg heeft immers een Russische hoofdsponsor. Ze hebben alle verwijzingen naar Rusland van de wagen verwijdert en men rijdt vandaag rond met een maagdelijk witte wagen.

Ook vanuit de wereldwijde politiek komen nu oproepen aan de Formule 1. De Australische freestyle-skiester Danielle Scott liet een wedstrijd in Rusland schieten vanwege de oorlog. De Australische minister-president Scott Morrison roemt haar op Twitter en spreekt direct de Formule 1 aan. Hij geeft aan dat alle grote sportevenementen het land links moeten laten liggen, hij benoemt specifiek de Russische Grand Prix. Vermoedelijk komt er snel meer nieuws over het wel of niet doorgaan van de race.

  Tja, hij lag zeker nog te slapen. Die australiers lopen een paar uur voor ;-)
  Ik ben voor. Keihard direct van de kalender halen. De invasie in de Oekraine mag niet ongestraft blijven.

Zou ik niet op rekenen, die gaan gewoon aankondigen dat ze de situatie op de voet blijven volgen en dan een 2-tal voor de race plaats vindt beslissen.
