Sainz weet nog niet waar hij staat: "Nog geen flauw idee"

Afgelopen week ontwaakte het Formule 1-circus uit de winterslaap. Op het circuit van Barcelona werkte men de eerste wintertest van het jaar af en kreeg de wereld een aardig beeld van hoe de teams ervoor staan. Vooral de prestaties van het team van Ferrari vielen op in Catalonië, de Italianen reden de meeste ronden en waren ook zeer vlot.

De goede start van Ferrari zorgde voor kopzorgen bij de concurrentie. Meerdere andere coureurs liet weten dat men rekening houdt met een succesverhaal van Ferrari. Bij de Italiaanse renstal wil men dan weer niet meedoen met het hosanna-denken. Men blijft men beide benen op de grond staan en probeert realistisch te blijven na de succesvolle test in Barcelona.

Vrolijk of verdrietig

Ook Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz wil zijn nieuwe F1-75 niet gelijk tot een kampioenswagen bestempelen. De Spanjaard laat echter weten geen flauw idee te hebben waar zijn team staat. Hij wordt geciteerd door Motorsport.com: "Ik kan begrijpen dat jullie al conclusies trekken en mogelijk al een volgorde in het hoofd hebben. Wij hebben echter nog geen flauw idee. Niemand weet van elkaar met hoeveel brandstof men heeft gereden en welke motorstanden er werden gebruikt. We weten niet of we vrolijk of verdrietig moeten zijn want we weten niet waar we staan."

Porpoising

Ferrari was productief in Barcelona maar men weet wel dat er werk aan de winkel is. De Italiaanse ploeg was één van de teams die nogal moeite had met het nieuwe fenomeen porpoising, het hobbelen van de auto. Sainz hoopt dan ook dat deze problemen verleden tijd zijn tijdens de tweede testweek. "Het is nu tijd om niet alleen aan het kilometeraantal te werken maar ook aan het hobbelen. Het is belangrijk om de auto op dat vlak betrouwbaarder te maken. We blijven eraan werken en we gaan zien of het beter gaat worden."

  volgens de verhalen is dat Ferrari zo goed bevallen dat ze besloten hebben om het hele seizoen met lege tanks te gaan rijden. Seizoen 2022 wordt voor Ferrari 1 grote glory run
