Hamilton kijkt uit naar seizoenstart: "Interessant om te zien waar iedereen staat"

Het team van Mercedes kende een haast probleemloze start van het seizoen. Tijdens de eerste wintertest op het circuit van Barcelona reed men afgelopen week zeer veel rondjes en noteerde ze snelle tijden. Tijdens de tests zeggen tijden vanzelfsprekend niet veel maar het geeft de teams natuurlijk wel een bemoedigend gevoel.

In Barcelona keerde ook Lewis Hamilton weer terug achter het stuur van een Formule 1-wagen. De Britse zevenvoudig wereldkampioen laste een radiostilte in na het mislopen van de wereldtitel in 2021 maar nu is hij gewoon weer terug. In Catalonië zag hij dat onder andere de teams van Red Bull, Ferrari en McLaren ook goed voor de dag kwamen.

Interessant

Het blijft echter gissen welk team momenteel de beste papieren in handen heeft. Het werd in ieder geval wel duidelijk dat enkele teams redelijk dicht bij elkaar liggen. Ook Hamilton heeft nog geen flauw benul van de nieuwe pikorde. Hij heeft er echter geen enkel probleem mee. De Brit wordt geciteerd door FormulaPassion: "Niemand heeft enig idee waar hij staat in vergelijking met anderen. Het wordt interessant om te zien waar iedereen staat tijdens de eerste race."

Nieuwe generatie

De fans hopen in ieder geval op een vervolg van het afgelopen seizoen. Vorig jaar vochten Hamilton en Max Verstappen een verbeten titelstrijd uit die wereldwijd miljoenen kijkers trok. Hamilton weet nog niet of er een vervolg in zit: "Ik denk dat elk seizoen spannend is. Maar het is duidelijk dat de auto's tot vorig seizoen evolueerde van jaar op jaar. Deze generatie auto's zijn helemaal nieuw, ik zag de tekeningen van de W13 maanden geleden. Nu kijken we met interesse naar de andere auto's om te kijken of andere teams een ander pad hebben gekozen."

  Zoals bij zoveel (onnodige) artikelen wordt de persoon in kwestie er waarschijnlijk gewoon naar gevraagd en niet dat hij/zij dit uit eigen initiatief naar buiten brengt.
