FIA keurt nieuw hekwerk goed voor Formule 1-circuits

Een circuit mag pas een Formule 1-race organiseren als deze aan zeer strenge veiligheidsvoorschriften voldoet. Als een circuit door de strenge keuring komt krijgt het een Grade 1-licentie, deze is nodig om een Grand Prix te mogen organiseren. De banen zijn voorzien van de nieuwste en veiligste beschermingsmiddelen en men krijgt nu meer keuze op dit gebied.

Autosportfederatie FIA heeft namelijk een gloednieuw hekwerk goedgekeurd, het is een ontwerp dan veiliger is en het is ook beter voor de fans. Het nieuwe hek is ontwikkeld door het Zwitserse Geobrugg en bij het ontwerp staan de stalen palen verder uit elkaar. Hierdoor hebben de fans beter zicht en is de veiligheid erop vooruit gegaan.

Veiligheid

Bij het nieuwe hekwerk-concept wordt er om de zes meter een stalen paal geplaatst waaraan staaldraden worden bevestigd. Het is ook goed voor de veiligheid van de coureurs. Doordat er minder palen nodig zijn bij het nieuwe ontwerp is de kans minder groot dat de coureurs bij een crash tegen een paal klappen. Het nieuwe hekwerk is ook goed gekeurd voor Grade 1-circuits. Dat betekent dat de hekken ook aanwezig zullen zijn op de Formule 1-circuits.

    zulke heftige crashes waarbij F1 wagens letterlijk de hekken in vliegen is iets wat we vaker in de Indycars gezien hebben, eigenlijk zelden in F1, maar meer veiligheid is altijd een goede zaak natuurlijk
