Alpine blijft op de vlakte: "We zijn niet extreem competitief"

Het team van Alpine wil dit jaar de overstap maken naar de kop van het veld. De nieuwe reglementen die dit seizoen ingaan zijn de reden van de comeback van Fernando Alonso. De ervaren Spanjaard gebruikte het afgelopen seizoen als een soort opwarmertje zodat hij dit jaar kan gaan toeslaan, het is nog maar de vraag of dat gaat gebeuren.

De Franse renstal kende namelijk een weifelend voorseizoen. De wintertests in Barcelona en Bahrein verliepen niet bijster slecht maar ook niet zeer goed. De ploeg kende de nodige problemen en de nieuwe wagen stond dan ook regelmatig stil in de pitbox. Het is dan ook afwachten hoe goed de renstal voor de dag gaat komen tijdens de seizoensopener.

Nieuwe motor

Bij Alpine zijn ze zich wel bewust van de probleempjes. Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi is een eerlijk man en hij geeft in gesprek met F1 TV eerlijk toe dat zijn ploeg rustig aan deed: "In Barcelona reden we zonder DRS, niet met de volledige power en alleen op de C2 banden. In Bahrein waren we ook niet op volledige snelheid door de nieuwe motor. We doen het stapje voor stapje. Het ziet er goed uit, we brengen dingen samen."

Competitief

Het is dan ook nog zeer onduidelijk waar men staat ten opzichte van de concurrentie. Rossi wil ook niet te hard van stapel lopen in Bahrein: "We hadden het lastig op donderdag, we verloren twee uur door problemen met de radiator. We kwamen echter terug en we kwamen op snelheid. Ik zou niet zeggen dat we extreem competitief zijn. Ik denk daarnaast ook niet niemand echt alle kaarten op tafel legt. Maar we zijn tenminste redelijk competitief, dat is goed."

  Ze zitten er redelijk bij maar ze gaan niet voor de zeges.
  Ik denk dat per saldo dat ze niks zijn opgeschoten en nog steeds het vijfde team zijn achter McLaren.
  Ik hoop wel dat ze er dicht genoeg bij staan zodat knokken om top 5 finishes af en toe mogelijk is.

Vrijdag de motor open draaien en dan komen de problemen, ik had met de test dagen maar even meer gas gegeven als ik Alpine was.

Het maakt ook helemaal niks uit als die wagen de vijfde van het veld is op 2 seconden achterstand. Alonso doet de rest wel.

Fernando wordt met gemak kampioen. Het WK 2022 is 5 rondes voor het eind al beslist!

Aiiiii……. Dat zijn toch Hamilton achtige teksten. Ik zou maar oppassen dit wordt gewoon een dominantie van 8 jaar bij Alpine. Maar ik trap hier niet in!!!!!
