AlphaTauri flirt met Mick Schumacher voor 2023

Het nieuwe F1-seizoen van 2022 is dit weekend nog maar net begonnen of de eerste geruchten voor 2023 doen alweer de ronde. Ieder jaar is het kijken naar welke contracten aflopen en waar coureurs naartoe zouden kunnen verhuizen.

Normaliter doen teambazen en public geen uitspraken over toekomstige coureurs, maar AlphaTauri-teambaas Franz Tost heeft geen moeite om met open mond te praten. Zijn huidige coureur Pierre Gasly staat uiteraard onder contract bij Red Bull maar wil na dit seizoen een competitieve stoel vinden in de F1 waardoor hij races kan winnen.

Daardoor moet ook AlphaTauri rekening houden met een mogelijk vertrek van Gasly en zal er een nieuwe coureur aangetrokken moeten worden, of iemand uit de eigen opleiding naar voren kunnen schuiven. Tost ziet echter een coureur op de huidige grid die hij graag in zijn team zou willen hebben; Mick Schumacher, die door Ferrari gesteund wordt is in het vizier.

Tost: "Hij is een van de echt grote talenten van dit moment. Mick heeft een grote toekomst voor zich. Hij weet hoe hij races en kampioenschappen moet winnen en is een zeer intelligente coureur. Dat zal hem helpen om succesvol te zijn in de Formule 1."
