Sainz gematigd tevreden: "Heb nogal wat moeite met de auto"

Carlos Sainz moet nog eventjes wachten op zijn eerste pole position. De Spaanse Ferrari-coureur deed in Bahrein zeker mee om de knikkers in de kwalificatie maar hij kwam niet verder dan de derde plaats. Toch was het een opsteker voor Sainz, hij heeft namelijk het gehele weekend al vormproblemen.

Sainz is een eerlijke man en na afloop is hij helder over zijn spannende zaterdagavond. Tegenover interviewer van dienst David Coulthard spreekt hij zich duidelijk uit: "Ik ben blij met mijn progressie tijdens het weekend want ik heb nogal wat moeite met onze auto hier. Ik had moeite met hoe ik de auto goed onder controle kon houden en ik lig dan ook al het gehele weekend een halve seconde achter."

Ondanks zijn worsteling met zijn nieuwe dienstwagen zat er eigenlijk wel een pole position in voor de sympathieke Spanjaard. Hij was positief verrast: "Dat ik vandaag mee kon vechten voor de pole position is goed nieuws voor mij. Dat ik een goed rondje kon rijden maar niet die laatste tiende kon pakken is jammer maar aan de andere kant ook wel een beetje verdiend."
