Coureurs spreken zich uit in GPDA-statement

Gisteren gebeurde er iets bijzonders in de Formule 1-bubbel. Na de aanslag eerder op de dag in Jeddah lieten Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali en FIA-president Mohammed Ben Sulayem weten dat de race gewoon door kon gaan. De coureurs leken er anders over te denken en overlegden urenlang over de situatie.

Diep in de Saoedische nacht kwamen de coureurs naar buiten en vanochtend werd duidelijk dat de race gewoon doorgaat. De coureurs bleven geruime tijd stil maar deze ochtend kwam coureursbond GPDA toch met een statement naar buiten. Oud-coureur en GPDA-kopstuk Alexander Wurz deelde op de sociale media een statement namens de coureurs. Opvallend genoeg zijn zowel Wurz als ander kopstuk Sebastian Vettel niet aanwezig in Jeddah.

In het statement laten de coureurs weten dat de dag van gisteren nogal moeilijk en stressvol was voor iedereen. Men geeft aan dat de grote zwarte rookwolken voor twijfels zorgden. De coureurs konden zich moeilijk focussen en men begon zich zorgen te maken. De coureurs hebben zich laten inlichten door de autoriteiten en geven aan gewoon te willen racen.

    Allicht, een maandsalaris van 1 miljoen dollar of 100 euro, eentje missen is altijd ruk.

    Overigens, f1 probeert al jaren zich uit te spreken over problemen wereldwijd, vooral de coureurs. Dít was de mogelijkheid om je spullen te pakken, te vertrekken en een statement te maken.

    Hou je helm maar heel de dag op je hoofd zou ik zeggen. Niet dat dat helpt, maar wel lekker gevoel dat extra beetje schijnveiligheid.

    Ik heb het idee dat de coureurs dus helemaal niet wilden racen en de organisatie wel. Nadat de druk niet goed werkte bij de coureurs zijn de teambazen er bij geroepen en uiteindelijk is men op een of andere manier gezwicht voor consequenties die totaal niet realistisch zijn. Geen coureur heeft er baat bij om daar nog te racen. Voor iedereen een race minder is eerlijk en geen enkel probleem. Hier is meer aan de hand en zodra de vliegtuigen geland zijn in Europa gaan we horen wat dat is. Ik hoop dat het zo'n stof doet opwaaien dat men er nooit meer naar terugkeert.

      Iedereen die zegt goed dat ze in SA racen die mag dat komen uitleggen, iedereen kotst die lui uit, probleem is alleen dat ze veel geld hebben, thats the point.

    Drive to Survive heeft wel n mooie periode uitgezocht om t F1 circus te volgen.
    Ik heb heel sterk het besef dat we ons in een historische tijd begeven. De bladzijdes vh boek Formule 1 waar veel plaatsvindt, waar veel begint en/of eindigt.
    Mss word ik verkeerd begrepen als ik zeg dat ik er toch op n vreemde manier wel van smul. Deze shit blijf je je wel herinneren.
