Wedstrijdleider Wittich coureurs waarschuwt coureurs voor langzaam rijden

Over iets minder dan een half uur beginnen de heren coureurs in Jeddah aan de kwalificatie. Op het krappe circuit in de Saoedische stad zal iedereen er alles aan doen om vrij baan te hebben voor hun vliegende ronde. Langzaam rijdende auto's kunnen echter voor gevaarlijke situaties zorgen en dus grijpt men in.

Wedstrijdleider Niels Wittich heeft de event notes van dit weekend namelijk aangepast met het oog op de aankomende kwalificatie. In de nieuwe versie van het document heeft Wittich een gloednieuw punt toegevoegd waarin hij verwijst naar artikel 33.4 van het regelboek van de sport. In dat artikel staat dat coureurs niet onnodig langzaam mogen rijden op een manier die voor gevaar kan zorgen.

Wittich heeft zeer duidelijke regels opgesteld waar de coureurs zich aan moeten houden tijdens de kwalificatie. Coureurs mogen tussen bocht 23 en bocht 25 geen gat creëren ten opzichte van hun voorganger. Zodra een coureur dit toch in zijn hoofd haalt heeft hij een probleem. Het moment zal dan worden bekeken door de stewards met het oog op het eerder genoemde artikel 33.4.
