Vettel steunde Aston Martin op virtuele wijze

Sebastian Vettel ontbrak ook afgelopen weekend bij Aston Martin. De Duitser was nog steeds niet hersteld van zijn coronabesmetting en daardoor moest hij de race missen. Vorige week moest hij de Grand Prix van Bahrein ook al laten schieten, tijdens beide races werd hij vervangen door zijn landgenoot Nico Hülkenberg.

Hülkenberg en zijn teamgenoot Lance Stroll konden in beide races geen potten breken. De groene bolide komt overduidelijk tekort en punten lijken nog ver weg. Bij de Britse ploeg in Canadese handen hoopt men op een comeback van Vettel tijdens de aankomende race in Australië. Vettel heeft zijn ploeg in ieder geval niet met rust gelaten in Bahrein en Saoedi-Arabië.

Teambaas Mike Krack onthult namelijk dat Vettel voortdurend in contact stond met zijn collega's op het circuit. Krack doet zijn uitspraken in gesprek met F1-Insider: "Tijdens alle meetings was hij op virtuele wijze aanwezig en gaf hij ons allerlei adviezen. We hadden tot het einde de hoop dat hij toch nog kon racen. Maar op een gegeven ogenblik kom je op een punt waar je tijd tekort komt. Aangezien Sebastian niet ready was hebben we maar weer voor Nico gekozen."
