Domenicali trots op komst Las Vegas: "VS enorm belangrijk voor ons"

Gisteren maakte de Formule 1 officieel bekend dat men vanaf 2023 gaat racen in Las Vegas. De heren coureurs zullen dwars door de stad gaan rijden en komen zelfs uit op de wereldberoemde Strip. De race in Nevada zal de derde wedstrijd op Amerikaanse bodem zijn, naast Austin en Miami.

De aankondiging van de Grand Prix van Las Vegas hing al enige tijd in de lucht. De race zal zeer bijzonder gaan worden op meerdere fronten. Zo breekt men in de gokstad met een traditie, de race vindt namelijk plaats op zaterdag in plaats van de gebruikelijke zondag. Daarnaast kent de baan een recht stuk van ongeveer twee kilometer, dat is gelijk het langste rechte stuk van de gehele Formule 1-kalender.

Verenigde Staten

Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali is in ieder geval in zijn nopjes met de toevoeging van Las Vegas aan de kalender. De Italiaan was zeer tevreden en dat liet hij ook blijken tegenover de internationale media: "De Formule 1 heeft een groots momentum te pakken en we groeien over de gehele wereld. Daarom gaan we ook hier heen, de interesse is reusachtig. De Verenigde Staten zijn enorm belangrijk voor ons, daar bestaat geen twijfel over. We zien dat het aantal fans hier enorm groeit."

Succes

De Las Vegas Grand Prix vindt pas volgend seizoen plaats maar Domenicali kan haast niet wachten. De CEO van de sport is vol van de toevoeging. "De race in Las Vegas zal groots zijn. Dit is onderdeel van ons plan om de sport naar een nieuw level te duwen. We willen onze fans in extase brengen en deze race door de straten van de stad vindt dan ook plaats op zaterdag. De auto's zullen zeer snel gaan over deze baan en dat zal een prachtig moment zijn voor ons allemaal. We weten zeker dat het een enorm succes gaat worden."

Kijk, dat de VS belangrijk zijn geloof ik wel, maar ga dan niet op die verrekte stratencircuits rijden terwijl je ook zat gewone circuits hebt daar.

Als ik die kop of de naam van Domenicali zie kan ik me zo ontzettend kwaad maken hè, dan kan ik m’n butler wel een schop voor zijn ballen geven, bakstenen door de ruiten van de overburen gooien en echt iedereen verrot schelden, maar ik hou me dan ff in en zit dan binnen 3 seconden weer in een rustgevende flow…

Het is gewoon treurig. Het hele F1 race DNA wordt verkanseld. Stratenraces, mooie plaatjes daar gaat het om. Racen hoort op circuits. Je moet er niet aan denken dat Spa of Silverstone van de kalender gaat door dit soort banen

  iets wat Ecclestone en Jean Todt altijd hebben buitengehouden ,of veroordeelt toen ze het bij duitse RTL zagen

  Dat dus jd2000 je gaat puur voor het geld races in het afvalputje van Amerika terwijl je gelijktijdig de mooiste race van Europa met de meeste glamour en uitstraling in monaco in twijfel gaat trekken.

Op zich niks mis met street circuits, maar wel uitdagend, en dat kan! Maar zeker ook iconische banen behouden! Cota is prima, belgie engeland duitsland oostenrijk is top maar singapore vind ik ook geweldig. En eerlijk is eerlijk saudi was ook prachtig. Alleen dat land....
