Domenicali hoopt op Amerikaanse coureur: "Erg belangrijk"

De Formule 1 heeft eindelijk voet aan grond gezet in de Verenigde Staten. Deze week kondigde men de Grand Prix van Las Vegas aan voor volgend seizoen. Dat betekent dat er volgend jaar drie Amerikaanse races op de kalender staan. Men gaat immers ook racen in Austin en Miami.

De Amerikanen hebben de afgelopen jaren steeds meer interesse gekregen in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Dit komt mede door de Netflix-serie Drive to Survive maar de prachtige kampioensstrijd van afgelopen seizoen heeft ongetwijfeld ook een grote rol gespeeld. Maar voor de Amerikanen ontbreekt er echter nog één ding, een landgenoot in op de startgrid.

Referentiekader

Ook de kopstukken van de Formule 1 zien graag een Amerikaanse coureur de sport betreden. Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali wordt geciteerd door RaceFans: "Het is heel erg belangrijk maar het moet wel echt zijn. Het is belangrijk omdat mensen het verschil maken. Ze zijn de hoofdrolspelers. Iedereen voelt binding met een gezegd, het is altijd een referentiekader. Maar het moet wel echt zijn."

Commercieel

Voor de Amerikanen zelf is een landgenoot in de sport zeer belangrijk. Domenicali weet dat en heeft goede hoop voor de toekomst. "Voor het commerciële oogpunt is het belangrijk. Vanuit het organisatorisch en promotor-oogpunt, ze willen de business verder ontwikkelen in de VS, is een mannelijke of vrouwelijke coureur in de sport echt heel erg belangrijk."

  Ze hopen natuurlijk gewoon op Penske, dat nog groter is...
  
  Maar ze kunnen beter Andretti accepteren. Wordt het een flop, dan hebben ze andretti gewaarschuwd.
  
  Het falen van Andretti zou alleen aangeven hoe sterk de huidige teams zijn. Indien Andretti direct er staat en mee doet voor top 5 plekken... ja dan moeten een paar huidige teams zich achter de oren krabben.
  
  Maar ik verwacht een nieuw team hooguit P8 a P9 in het team klassement.

  @TylaHunter de F.1(teams) willen de Noord Amerikaanse markt veroveren, dàt is erg belangrijk.
  Maar het moet de teams NIKS kosten. Een Amerikaanse coureur zou door zijn team betaald worden, is dus gratis voor F.1. Maar een eventueel succesvol Amerikaans team zou wel eens flinke pegels uit de zakken van de huidige teams op kunnen strijken... En dat mag natuurlijk niet gebeuren

  Ik zou liever willen weten welke Amerikaanse coureur geschikt is om in de top of middenmoot mee te strijden. Zou het zelf echt niet weten.
  
  Bij een Amerikaans team hoop ik overigens ook op een Amerikaanse motor. Dat zou pas goed zijn voor de populariteit van F1 daar. Maar goed, Amerikanen staan niet zo bekend om het genereren van paardenkrachten uit blokken met weinig cilinderinhoud.

Eerst maar de punten voor Amerikaanse klasses opschroeven. Ze moeten nogal veel moeite doen voor een f1 licentie.

Domenicali moet het ook faciliteren, maar daarin is hij zo passief als maar kan.
Wees ervan overtuigd dat er genoeg Amerikanen graag willen intreden in F1. Echter blijft F1 toch echt een Europese klasse.
Als er Amerikanen goed genoeg zijn, dan zullen we ze zien, maar voorlopig is het zo dat juist de F1 afdankertjes uit de rest van de wereld in VS onder contract gaan racen.

Er moet helemaal niets, dan wordt het zeker niets, en weer dat gezeur over een vrouw, als er 1 goed genoeg is, dan hadden we dat al lang geweten.

Al die leuke praatjes boeit mij echt niets, de beste rijders wil ik zien, de rest mag thuis blijven.
