Wedstrijdleiding grijpt in en schrapt DRS-zone, 3 DRS-punten blijven over

De circuitmap van het circuit van Albert Park deed eerder deze week nogal wat wenkbrauwen fronsen. Men had namelijk besloten dat er maar liefst vier (!) DRS-zones zouden zijn op het circuit in de Australische stad Melbourne. Niet iedereen was hier even tevreden mee. Wedstrijdleider Niels Wittich heeft nu dan ook ingegrepen.

Vanochtend slingerde Wittich vlak voor de derde training namelijk een nieuwe informatiebrief de wereld in. Er is namelijk besloten dat er één DRS-zone wordt verwijderd. Het eerste DRS-detectiepunt wordt verplaatst naar net voor bocht 9. De vleugel maar dan voor het eerst open in bocht 10.

Hoe erg ik tegen DRS ben, heb ik een grotere hekel aan het veranderen van de spelregels halverwege.

    Hoe erg ik tegen DRS ben, heb ik een grotere hekel aan het veranderen van de spelregels halverwege.

      Ze van 4 zones naar 3 gegaan dat is een degradatie van 25% DRS. Waardoor dus eventuele gemaakte tactieken met betrekking tot 4 zones of afstellingen die gebaseerd zijn op 4 zones nu weg kunnen. Je veranderd de spelregels door de baan te veranderen. Niet fysiek maar door het verwijderen van een DRS zone.

      @RedSlow, je hebt helemaal gelijk.
      Alle voorbereidingen zoals de simulator en de eerste twee testsessies voor de kat-zn-kudt gedaan nu met het wegvallen van deze DRS zone het karakter van de baan (en daarmee de race) totaal veranderd.
      Ik begrijp trouwens überhaupt niet waarom DRS zones zo kort voor een GP worden bekend gemaakt en (zo te zien) zelfs gedurende het weekend kan worden gewijzigd.

      Maak een keuze en hou je daaraan.
      Verkeerde keuze gemaakt? Volgend jaar een betere keuze maken.
      Nu beïnvloeden ze wederom het seizoen door veranderingen door te voeren terwijl het weekend al in volle gang is.

      Precies dit, teams plannen en stellen hun hele auto af rekening houdend met de drs zones.

      Regels blijven gelijk en het intrekken van een DRS zone is binnen de regels. Hadden ze dit niet eerder kunnen bedenken op basis van simulatie? Waarschijnlijk wel maar het is geen breuk met de regels.

      En dan wordt er nu extra gecontroleerd op de naleving van het dragen van brandvrij ondergoed én het verbod op dragen van sierraden.
      En één keer raden wie er nu al met een neuspiercing is gesignaleerd?
      Jep, Lewis.
      Maar die zal wel weer ontzien worden door de FIA doordat er vervolgens toch maar niet gehandhaafd wordt.

    In de briefing werd door coureurs aangegeven dat ze de 4e DRS zone niet veilig achtten. Om die reden is deze verwijderd.
    Verder is er aangekaart, dat het een trend is dat er overal steeds meer DRS zones komen, en er werd gezegd dat het meer voor de show is dan als inhaal hulp.

    Verder heeft de wedstrijdleiding er op gewezen dat het dragen van brandvertragende onderkleding verplicht is, en de regelgeving mbt de safetycar herstarts uitgelwgd:
    Het is verboden bij een herstart NAAST een andere wagen te rijden met ook maar een gedeelte van de wagen.
    Je hoeft niet dezelfde lijn te rijden als je voorganger, maar je moet er wel achter rijden.

    Off topic. Wat is dat met de fia. Al weer regels aanscherpen? Men moet nu trouw in een rijtje achter de safety car blijven? En men mag niet van snelheid veranderen?

    Nog even en men mag alleen maar inhalen op instructie van de fia.

    Ook belangrijk bij inhalen is,in de spiegels kijken,richting aangeven en dan inhalen,na het inhalen weer in de spiegels kijken,richting aangeven en weer naar rechts. In Australie is dat natuurlijk naar links.

    Gewoon de DRS zone terug brengen naar 1 vak, vooruit aangeven en daar bij blijven.
    Als die DRS zones maken het misschien spannend(er) maar het risico dat er een keer een echt zware klapper door ontstaat neemt ook in ratio toe, dat kan nooit de bedoeling zijn met de huidige budgetcap.
