Pechweekend Aston Martin krijgt mogelijk pijnlijk staartje

Het team van Aston Martin beleefde afgelopen weekend een Grand Prix om snel te vergeten. In bijna elke sessie werd er zware schade gereden door coureurs Lance Stroll en Sebastian Vettel. Het was een enorme dreun voor de Britse renstal in Canadese handen. De gevolgen zijn waarschijnlijk nogal groot.

In de eerste vrije training in Melbourne moest Vettel zijn bolide aan de kant van de baan parkeren met motorische problemen. Hierdoor miste hij de tweede training en een dag later was het weer raak. Vettel crashte al vroeg in de derde training en even later stond ook teammaat Stroll in de muur. Stroll reed daarna in de kwalificatie tegen Nicholas Latifi aan. In de race bleef de pech de ploeg achtervolgen aangezien Vettel uitviel na een crash.

Crashes

Teambaas Mike Krack baalde als een stekker na het weekend vol rampen. De Luxemburger kon tegenover Motorsport.com niet om de grote hoeveelheid schade heen: "Het begon al met motorproblemen op vrijdag en daardoor moest we de PU vervangen. Vervolgens hadden we de crashes waardoor we opnieuw een hoop werk moesten verrichten. Voorafgaand het weekend hadden we het idee dat we sterker zouden zijn."

Invloed

Waarschijnlijk heeft het weekend vol schade gevolgen voor de toekomst van de ploeg. Dankzij de budget cap zal men meer geld moeten uitgeven aan nieuwe onderdelen. Krack: "Als je mee hebt geteld bij de kapotte voorvleugels en ophangingen, dan weet je hoeveel wij er moeten maken voor Imola. En ja, dat gaat invloed hebben. Het is de vraag of we nog ruimte hebben voor ontwikkelingen of dat we het moeten besteden aan nieuwe onderdelen."

Bij het woord "ploeg" moet ik altijd denken aan Noobs / newbies die ook een keer iets over F1 willen zeggen. Zit ook zo'n figuur in de AD F1 podcast, zo'n voetbal jongen die het steeds over "Ploeg" heeft.

  @Bertrand: Demmendaal is zeker goed. Maar probleem is dat je ook die Charral Jarlving erbij krijgt.
  
  @Natte Slak: Dat is meer vriendenpraat. Wel leuk op zich. Vind het alleen jammer dat het wel echt een amateurpodcast is waarin geen stappen gezet worden door bijv. de audio aan alle kanten goed voor elkaar te hebben.

Ergens vind ik het wel mooi om te zien dat Aston Martin niks presteert. Het toont toch maar even aan dat succes in het zakenleven, totaal geen garantie biedt om succesvol een F1 team te runnen.

De prestaties lijken aardig richting het niveau Spyker terug te gaan. Ik zie Vettel na dit jaar vertrekken. Die heeft nog wat leuke centjes binnen geharkt voor zijn oldtimer motor die hij klaar maakt.

Hopelijk dan maar Piastri naast Stroll als Alonso nog 3 jaar door wil gaan.

Stroll die gaat zijn F1 toko gewoon verkopen, ide heeft alleen problemen, en binnen een paar jaar de titel winnen, wordt waarschijnlijk over 10 jaar.

Ik zie hem wel vertrekken uit de F1..

Hij denkt alles wel even naar zijn hand te zetten, maar dat werkt dus even niet.
