Mazepin ziet opties: "Ben geïnteresseerd in woestijnrally's"

De oorlog in Oekraïne zorgde ervoor dat Nikita Mazepin werd ontslagen bij het team van Haas. De Russische coureur werd de deur gewezen en ook de sponsorstickers van Uralkali werden van de bolide verwijderd. Haas moest opzoek naar een vervanger en kwam uit bij Kevin Magnussen, die zeer aardig presteert.

Mazepin zit ondertussen werkloos thuis en is in de tussentijd, samen met zijn vader, op een sanctielijst van de Europese Unie geplaats. Racen in een andere klassen zit er dus ook niet in en de bekritiseerde Rus is niet bepaald tevreden met de manier waarop hij werd ontslagen door Haas. Hij houdt zelfs hoop op een vervolg van zijn Formule 1-avontuur.

Pauze

Veel fans missen Mazepin totaal niet. De Russische coureur crashte met enige regelmaat tijdens zijn eerste seizoen in de sport en daarnaast hinderde hij regelmatig collega-coureurs. Mazepin zelf denkt dat hij terug kan keren in de sport, zo zegt hij tegen Ria Novosti. "Mijn loopbaan staat momenteel op pauze. Maar ik ben al 18 jaar betrokken bij de autosport en ik ga het niet zomaar achterlaten. Ik zorg ervoor dat ik in vorm blijf en ik hoop dat ik kan terugkeren in de Formule 1."

Rally's

Mazepin realiseert zich daarnaast ook heus wel dat een vervolg van zijn Formule 1-loopbaan lastig gaat worden. De bekritiseerde Rus heeft ook al een plan B beschikbaar: "Als dat niet van de grond gaat komen, dan zal ik andere opties voor het racen op vier wielen overwegen. Ik ben geïnteresseerd in woestijnraces. De Dakar Rally is een mogelijkheid en dat geldt ook voor de Silk Way Rally."

  Maxfanaat, je hebt gelijk dat de EU/NAVO een aanleiding zijn voor een ontevreden Putin en een verdeeld Ukraine. Maar er is maar één echte hoofdverantwoordelijke voor deze wrede oorlog en dat is toch echt Putin. Punt.

Ik zou eens beginnen in de Rally van Siberië. Dan hoeft hij het land niet eens uit en kan hij toch een mooi stukje crossen. Als die rally nog niet bestaat, kan zijn vader er vast voor zorgen dat die er dan snel komt.

Bijkomend voordeel: er zijn geen muren waar je tegenaan kunt knallen.

Hoorde niet op de gird natuurlijk.
Niet omdat hij Rus is, niet om zijn jeugdzonden maar puurweg omdat hij gewoonweg niet goed genoeg is.

Lijkt me eerder een type Nascar racer...maar goed, dat gaat nog minder snel gebeuren.

  Mwah… een Rus die alleen Rusland kent en de Russische media die kan nog op enige clementie rekenen.
  Een Rus die de wereld over reist en dus prima kan weten wat er in de wereld speelt maar desondanks nog gewoon achter de oorlog/moorden en verkrachtingen staat en zelfs dan nog weigert afstand te nemen die is af hoor. Niet vanwege wel of geen talent maar in de eerste plaats vanwege het totale gebrek aan een moreel kompas.
  100% terecht eruit geknikkerd en zal ook nooit meer aan de bak komen. Net als die andere koekwaus Kvyat.
  Te laf om in dienst te gaan maar wel ruggengraatloos genoeg om achter Vlad te schuilen. Zien we ook nooit meer terug.

  Ongeacht nationaliteit en politieke voorkeur probeer ik mensen te behandelen zoals ikzelf behandeld wil worden. Valt mij op dat mensen die graag gebruik maken van hun recht op vrije meningsuiting het niet echt kunnen waarderen als mensen die zij niet mogen een mening hebben die hen niet aanstaat. Wie dat niet aankan, kan de vrijheid dus ook niet aan. Simple as that.
