Giancarlo Minardi krijgt belangrijke functie binnen de FIA

In de top van autosportfederatie FIA werken inmiddels veel namen met een aardige achtergrond in de autosport. FIA-president Mohammed Ben Sulayem was immers jarenlang een semi-succesvolle rallycoureur en zijn voorganger Jean Todt was eerder de teambaas van Ferrari. Vandaag kozen de leden van het World Motor Sport Council weer een belangrijke naam voor een belangrijke functie.

Men koos vandaag namelijk de nieuwe president van de FIA Single-Seater Commission. Tijdens de afgelopen jaren werd deze functie waargenomen door voormalig Force India-kopstuk Bob Fernley, hij was weer de opvolger van huidig Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali. Fernley heeft nu een zeer bekende naam als opvolger gekregen.

De leden van het World Motor Sport Council hebben namelijk Giancarlo Minardi verkozen tot de nieuwe president van de Single-Seater Commission. De Italiaan is een bekende naam, hij was immers de oprichter van zijn eigen Formule 1-team Minardi. Het team kon altijd op veel sympathie rekenen, ook al kwamen ze nooit in de buurt van overwinningen. Minardi vervulde na het verkoop van zijn team meerdere rollen in de autosport. Zo is hij de president van het circuit in Imola en heeft hij een belangrijke functie binnen de Italiaanse autosportbond.

    Toekomstbestendige man met zijn 76 lentes. En fin, het is een man die gepokt en gemazeld is inde racerij. Dat is dan wel weer een positief punt.

      Misschien hadden ze hem beter de functie direcuter werving en selectie kunnen geven. Kwam met regelmaat opdagen met opmerkelijke coureurs en heeft nu ook al een kijk op opmerkelijke transfers van andere teams.
