Ook Massa onder de indruk van Ferrari: "Daar zullen ze nog sneller zijn"

Het team van Ferrari is zeer sterk aan het nieuwe seizoen begonnen. De Italiaanse renstal heerst mede dankzij kopman Charles Leclerc. De Monegask wist twee van de eerste drie races van het seizoen te winnen en gaat met een reusachtige voorsprong aan de leiding in het wereldkampioenschap.

Aankomend weekend staat een belangrijke Grand Prix voor Ferrari op het programma. Dit weekend is het namelijk de beurt aan Imola, de eerste Europese race van het seizoen. Ferrari zal dus gelijk in actie komen voor het eigen Italiaanse publiek en men kijkt er reikhalzend naar uit. Ze worden dan ook weer als de grote favoriet gezien.

Juichen

Op het razendsnelle, mythische asfalt van Imola kunnen Leclerc en teamgenoot Carlos Sainz een nieuwe slag slaan. Voormalig Ferrari-coureur Felipe Massa is in ieder geval gevuld met complimenten. Tegenover La Gazzetta dello Sport spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik ben onder de indruk van de mensen in Maranello en van hoe ze de regels hebben begrepen. Het is geen verrassing dat ze zo ver voorop liggen in de titelstrijd. Ze moeten niet te vroeg juichen want het seizoen duurt nog zeer lang. Ze hebben de titel nog niet gewonnen."

Downforce

Massa verwacht daarnaast wel dat Ferrari voorlopig zal gaan domineren. Hij ziet namelijk circuits waar de Italianen zeer sterk zullen zijn: "De aankomende circuits zijn banen waar downforce een belangrijke rol gaan spelen. Ik denk dat in het bijzonder aan Imola, Spanje en Monaco. Ze zullen daar nog sneller zijn. Red Bull is wel heel erg sterk op de rechte stukken maar Ferrari heeft een goede balans in de bochten."

Terecht dat hij onder de indruk is…. Alleen denk ik dat dit weekend een andere leeuw wint in het hol van deze Italiaanse leeuw. En daarmee de flow verbreekt waar Ferarri en Leclerc in zit.

  Ik ben bang dat RB de problemen nog niet heeft opgelost, alleen waarschijnlijk het bezinetoevoer probleem, dat is niet zo moeilijk.
  Maar ben bang dat Ferrari weer dominant zal zijn.

Ja ja, en als het in Imola (wat) tegenvalt met Ferrari dan buitelen de voormalige F1-coureurs weer over elkaar heen om te melden dat Ferrari de ontwikkelingsrace aan het verliezen is en het verval is ingezet…
