Bottas had veel plezier in rematch met Russell

Valtteri Bottas en George Russell beleefde afgelopen jaar een van de zwaarste ongelukken van het seizoen tijdens de editie van 2021 op het circuit van Imola. Ook dit jaar waren beide coureurs met elkaar in gevecht. De plaatsvervanger van Bottas reed naar een vierde plaats, terwijl de gewezen Mercedes-coureur in de Alfa Romeo uiteindelijk als vijfde eindigde.

"Wij hadden een hele goede race", vertelde Bottas. "Ik had bij de start licht contact. Gelukkig was er geen schade. De stop voor nieuwe banden zorgde ervoor dat ik tot het einde van de race kon blijven pushen, met uiteindelijk het gevecht met de Mercedes als bonus."

Bottas vertelde verder aan de gezamenlijke pers dat: "Het jammer was dat ik op het einde van de race net niet de snelheid had om deze Mercedes in te halen. " De Fin is bezig aan een ijzersterk seizoen en heeft in drie van de vier wedstrijden punten gescoord. Bottas staat met de Alfa Romeo op dit moment slechts vier punten achter zijn voormalige teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton en mag wat dat betreft de verrassing van het huidige seizoen genoemd worden.

"Het is echt geweldig om in deze omstandigheden met George te vechten", verklaarde hij. "Ik heb echt ontzettend veel plezier gehad en ons nieuwe pakket aan updates werkte voortreffelijk. Deze updates hebben de auto nog een stuk sterker gemaakt en dat geeft een geweldig gevoel", sloot de Finse-coureur af.

  Blijkbaar werken de pizzabroodjes bij AR beter bij hem dan de puddingbroodjes bij Mercedes…
  
  Valtteri voelt zich bevrijd van het Mercedes-juk en rijdt met hervonden plezier en elan bij een team met wederzijds vertrouwen. Da’s wel duidelijk…

  was maar voor te lachen he @Larry,
  maar je hebt wel gelijk, we zien tot nu toe een ander soort Bottas, eentje die mij beter bevalt dan de slaafse Fin van afgelopen jaren.
  Gisteren toen hij achter K-Mag reed dacht ik nog, no f*cking way dat hij hem inhaalt, maar dus toch, de mallerd :)

Regelmatig heb ik wel afgegeven op Bottas maar zoals hij nu rijdt mag hij blijven. Blijkbaar werkt zijn vertrek naar AR bevrijdend. Daarnaast is het een verademing dat teams als AR en Haas dit jaar meedoen.
