Williams overwoog alle verf te verwijderen in strijd met gewicht

De huidige reglementen zijn een echte uitdaging voor de teams. Dit seizoen is het eerste jaar onder het gloednieuwe regelboek en de renstallen krijgen te maken met allerlei nieuwe vraagstukken. Ook het nieuwe minimumgewicht van 798 kilogram zorgt voor de nodige hoofdbrekens.

Het is voor de teams namelijk van groot belang om te voldoen aan het minimumgewicht. Als de wagens zwaarder zijn kan dat namelijk ten koste gaan van de nodige rondetijd. Een snelle ronde is nou eenmaal van belang dus de teams die kampen met deze problemen zoeken naar allerlei oplossingen. Ook het team van Williams heeft een zware auto en men nam in Imola drastische maatregelen.

Men had in Italië namelijk de nodige verf van de wagen verwijderd. De wagen was daardoor niet meer volledig blauw, men heeft zelfs nagedacht over het verwijderen van alle verf. Williams-kopstuk Dave Robson geeft dat toe tegenover Motorsport.com: "Natuurlijk hebben engineers daar naar gevraagd. Dit is wel het punt waar de engineering en de marketing elkaar tegenkomen. We willen namelijk allemaal dat de auto's er goed uitzien, dat hoort ook bij de sport. Dat draait niet alleen om de livery zelf maar ook om de herkenbaarheid. Daardoor is dit een compromis. De auto moet een bepaalde zichtbaarheid hebben. Maar sponsoren hebben ook een belang bij een snelle auto."

Ben vorige week van ppg verf naar nelf overgestapt, dank je wel voor de tip evert. Als ppg niet goed is voor mijn team dan ook niet voor mij. 😉
