Sainz weet niets van illegale vloer van Ferrari tijdens bandentest in Imola

De FIA heeft suggesties afgewezen dat Ferrari de regels heeft overtreden tijdens de Pirelli-bandentest van vorige week in Imola. Twee teams, waarvan er één vermoedelijk McLaren is, klaagden naar verluidt dat Charles Leclerc een andere specificatie reed dan zijn teamgenoot Carlos Sainz.

Bandentesten mogen door teams niet worden gebruikt voor het testen van ontwikkelingen aan de auto's. De andere twee teams die vorige week in Imola testten waren Alfa Romeo en Red Bull's tweede team AlphaTauri.

Het in Maranello gevestigde Ferrari gaf geen commentaar, terwijl de Spanjaard Sainz wel reageerde "Ik ben daar momenteel niet van op de hoogte. Voor de details van de vloer moet je bij Pirelli of Ferrari wezen. Zij moeten daarop reageren. Wat we ook hebben gedaan kan ik niet zeggen, ik heb geen idee."

Het is echter gebleken dat de FIA de zaak heeft onderzocht en tot de conclusie is gekomen dat Ferrari slechts twee verschillende specificaties van vloer gebruikte omdat de eerste schade opliep. Beide vloerspecificaties waren bestaande ontwerpen - één daarvan werd in Imola gebruikt tijdens de Grand Prix en een andere versie werd gebruikt tijdens de wintertest in Bahrein.
