Vettel jaagt per scooter op dieven die tas met iPhone stelen

Sebastian Vettel van Aston Martin werd tijdens het raceweekend van de Spaanse Grand Prix in Barcelona bestolen. Zoals gemeld door het Catalaanse El Periodico, werd maandagochtend een tas van viervoudig wereldkampioen Vettel gestolen van buiten zijn hotel, de dag nadat hij als elfde was geëindigd tijdens de Spaanse Grand Prix, waarbij hij nipt de punten miste.

Dieven zouden de tas door een autoraam hebben gestolen, hoewel Vettel een plan had om te proberen zijn bezittingen op te sporen. Vettel zou op een scooter zijn vertrokken en zijn 'Find my iPhone'-app gebruiken om een signaal te volgen dat werd uitgezonden door zijn AirPods-koptelefoon die in de tas zat. Helaas werd alleen de koptelefoon gevonden en niet de tas of een van de items erin.

De lokale autoriteiten hebben naar verluidt een onderzoek ingesteld. Een woordvoerder van Aston Martin zou tegenover motorsport.com hebben bevestigd dat het incident inderdaad heeft plaatsgevonden.

"Een tas van Sebastian Vettel is vanmorgen in Barcelona gestolen. Hij probeerde het te vinden door zijn iPhone te gebruiken om zijn oortelefoons te volgen die in zijn tas zaten; maar toen hij zijn oortelefoons vond, lagen die alleen op een plek waardoor hij de gestolen tas niet meer kon vinden", staat in de verklaring.

Gestolen horloges

Helaas zijn er recente incidenten geweest waarbij Formule 1-coureurs van hun bezittingen zijn beroofd. Meest recentelijk werd een horloge van Charles Leclerc ter waarde van 320.000 dollar gestolen in Milaan. De dader zou het van zijn pols hebben verwijderd toen een menigte zich om hem heen had verzameld nadat Leclerc was gestopt voor foto's van fans.

Lando Norris werd in de zomer van 2021 ook beroofd van een horloge, door twee personen in Londen toen hij terugkeerde naar zijn auto na de Euro 2020-finale op Wembley. Gelukkig kwamen Vettel, Leclerc en Norris allemaal ongedeerd uit hun respectievelijke beproevingen.

Eigenlijk heeft Seb nog wat geluk gehad. Als die dieven een beetje extra uitgekookt waren geweest hadden ze die Airpods in een laadbak van een of andere pickup gegooid; dan was Seb nu nog aan het achtervolgen geweest ;-)

Zouden ze dat nou alleen maar doen omdat het een beroemde rijke stinkerd is??? 2 Jaar geleden was mijn telefoon gestolen en weet vrijwel 100% zeker dat er door de lokale autoriteiten alhier geen onderzoek is ingesteld...
