'Netflix en Amazon tonen interesse in Amerikaanse uitzendrechten Formule 1'

De Formule 1 is in de afgelopen jaren flink in populariteit gegroeid. Vooral in de Verenigde Staten wordt de sport steeds populairder, de hoge heren van de sport pakken de kans met beide handen aan en volgend seizoen staan er drie Amerikaanse races op de kalender.

Eén van de oorzaken van de groeiende populariteit is de Netflix-serie 'Drive to Survive'. De reeks heeft een compleet nieuw publiek naar de sport getrokken en vooral de Amerikaanse fan lijkt steeds meer naar de sport te kijken. In de V.S kijkt men naar de sessies op de sportzender ESPN. Het contract met de zender loopt aan het einde van dit jaar af en dat betekent dat er een heel interessante markt vrij komt.

Streamingsgiganten

ESPN wil vanzelfsprekend het contract met de Formule 1 verlengen, maar er liggen enkele reusachtige kapers op de kust. Volgens het Amerikaanse Business Insider zijn enkele enorme partijen namelijk geïnteresseerd in de uitzendrechten. Het Amerikaanse medium meldt namelijk dat Netflix, Amazon en NBCUniversal interesse hebben in de rechten. Vooral de eerste twee zijn interessant, het zijn beide immers streamingsgiganten.

Netflix

De interesse is opvallend aangezien Netflix nooit eerder een live sportevenement heeft uitgezonden. De streamingsdienst heeft wel bijgedragen aan de groeiende populariteit met hun reeks 'Drive to Survive'. Mocht het echt zover komen dat Netflix de uitzendrechten aanschaft, dan geldt dit alleen maar voor de Verenigde Staten. Het draait hier immers om de uitzendrechten in het grote land met de groeiende interesse in de sport.

Heel eerlijk. Ik snap niet waarom dit niet al bij Netflix zit. Scheelt een ieder weer een abbo op viaplay. Netflix heeft hun streams prima voor elkaar. Het grote gros van het publiek heeft immers al netflix.

Als F1 via Netflix te kijken is in NL. Dan zeg ik per direct viaplay op.

  Denk dat dat met geld te maken heeft. De rechten alleen in NL kosten meen ik al iets van 30miljoen euro.

  Goed punt Ron Kanon@. Netflix heeft zo,n 3,6 miljoen abbo's in NL... Met iedere abbo een 10tje wordt het inderdaad wel erg krap en zullen we waarschijnlijk iets als een sportpakket bij gaan verkopen waardoor het kijken van F1 alsnog iets van 15 euro extra kost inderdaad.

Helaas heeft dat k@t Viaplay de rechten hier in NL. Zou fijn zijn als Netflix ook bij ons live uitzendt. Bij Netflix nog nooit een issue gehad met hapering of slechte resolutie.
Dus het kan wel, misschien moet de CEO van Viaplay even op stage bij Netflix.

  Live streaming wat Viaplay doet is niet te vergelijken met wat Netflix doet , je moet als Viaplay zijnde premnium bandbreedte , een soort van gegarandeerde deel van een lijn huren bij de grotere carriers , zeg maar de eigenaren van het wereldwijde netwerk ook wel backbone genoemd om fatsoenlijk te kunnen streamen naar de gebruikers toe .

Ik heb echt meer vertrouwen in Netflix dan Viaplay. Netflix loopt echt haperloos. Ook series, die dus niet live zijn, haperen regelmatig bij Viaplay.
