GP Zuid Afrika stap dichterbij terugkeer op F1-kalender

Zuid-Afrika's grote kans om toe te treden tot de Formule 1 kalender gaat naar verluidt een grote stap voorwaarts maken. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, die onlangs aangaf dat Kyalami de volgende nieuwe locatie voor de sport moet worden, reist naar verluidt binnenkort naar het continent voor gesprekken met officials.

Christo Kruger, top official van Kyalami vertelde aan The Citizen: "We zijn geïnteresseerd in een terugkeer van de Formule 1 naar Kyalami, maar we kunnen geen commentaar geven op de geruchten dat Domenicali een bezoek plant aan ons circuit."

"Het is aan de Formule 1 om contact met ons op te nemen. We zijn niet betrokken als organisator van een evenement en dat zullen we ook niet zijn. We bieden faciliteiten van wereldklasse te huur aan en als de Formule 1 ons circuit wil gebruiken, zullen we er alles aan doen om het hele evenement zo soepel mogelijk te laten verlopen", voegde hij eraan toe.
