Sebastian Vettel kende een zeer sterke Azerbeidzjaanse Grand Prix. De Duitse Aston Martin-coureur kwam sterk voor de dag en kwam als zesde over de finishlijn, alleen Pierre Gasly, de Red Bulls en de Mercedessen waren sneller. Vanzelfsprekend was Vettel na afloop zeer tevreden met zijn resultaat.

Na afloop van de race vroeg Vettel zijn engineer om de uitslag van de race. Vettel krijgt echter niet alles te horen wat hij precies wil horen, zijn engineer vergeet namelijk de resultaten van Ferrari en die van Mick Schumacher. De Duitse coureur kan het zeer goed vinden met Schumacher en regelmatig trekken de twee samen op.
