Liuzzi doet mee aan V8 Supercars-race in Surfers Paradise

HRT-coureur Vitantonio Liuzzi heeft zijn deelname toegezegd voor de V8 Supercars-race op het circuit van Surfers Paradise. De Italiaan deelt de Wilson Securities Falcon-auto met Tony D'Alberto. Hij is niet de enige Formule 1-naam op de deelnemerslijst. Oud Formule 1-rijders Sebastien Bourdais, Christian Klien, Mika Salo, Jan Magnussen, Gianni Morbidelli en Stephane Sarrazin staan ook aan de start van het evenement dat van 21 tot en met 23 oktober plaats vindt.

Liuzzi: Ik heb eens goed naar de auto gekeken tijdens het Australische Grand Prix-weekend en ik was onder de indruk. Qua grootte verschillen Tony en ik niet veel, waardoor onze zitpositie vrij gelijk is. Dat maakt ons een goed team. Ik denk niet dat ik lang nodig zal hebben om me aan te passen. De eendaagse test voorafgaand aan het evenement zal goed voor me zijn. Ik heb ervaring met krachtige saloon cars en daar heb ik altijd van genoten. De V8 Supercars zijn daarmee te vergelijken. Toen ik wist dat ik aan een race mee ging doen heb ik het kampioenschap wat meer gevolgd en de wedstrijden zijn spannend en opwindend. De test zal belangrijk voor me zijn en ik zou graag meer tijd in de auto doorbrengen, maar dat geldt voor iedereen.
