'FIA geeft Porsche en Audi meer duidelijkheid over deadline nieuw motorreglement'

Het is al geruime tijd duidelijk dat Volkswagen Group-merken Audi en Porsche de Formule 1 willen betreden. In 2026 gaan er nieuwe motorreglementen in en die zijn naar de zin van de twee merken. Een officiële aankondiging heeft echter nog niet plaatsgevonden, Audi en Porsche wachten daarvoor het juiste moment af.

Het is wel duidelijk dat Porsche en Audi de Formule 1 in willen stappen maar men wil dit pas bekend maken als de nieuwe regels officieel zijn geworden. Het was de bedoeling dat de nieuwe motorreglementen op 29 juni aan het World Motor Sport Council zouden worden voorgelegd. Maar volgens het doorgaans goed ingevoerde Auto, Motor und Sport lijkt het erop dat dit niet gaat gebeuren tijdens deze meeting.

De totstandkoming van de nieuwe regels verliep volgens het medium eveneens niet geheel op rolletjes. Binnen autosportfederatie FIA zou er veel gerommel zijn geweest over de deadline van eind juni. Maar volgens AMuS hebben Audi en Porsche nu een nieuwe datum te horen gekregen. Zowel FIA-president Mohammed Ben Sulayem als Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali hebben de merken verzekerd van een datum in uiterlijk juli. Daarna zullen de merken naar verwachting met officieel nieuws naar buiten komen.

Oostenrijk

Volgens AMuS kunnen de presentatieplannen van Porsche hierdoor wel in het nauw. De Duitse fabrikant zou namelijk het idee hebben om tijdens de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix hun plannen te delen. Dit omdat men vermoedelijk in zee gaat met Red Bull Racing. Over de plannen van Audi is nog minder duidelijkheid. Maar het lijkt erop dat men bij Audi gaat samenwerken met Sauber, het huidige Alfa Romeo.
