Gasly trots op contractverlenging: "Blij dat ik aanblijf"

Eerder vandaag maakte het team van AlphaTauri wereldkundig wat iedereen al zag aankomen. Men maakte namelijk bekend dat Pierre Gasly ook in 2023 actief zal zijn voor het Italiaanse team. Teambaas Franz Tost had het eerder al naar buiten gebracht maar het team had er nog geen officiële berichten over gedeeld.

Gasly liet zich eerder dit seizoen nog teleurgesteld uit toen bekend werd gemaakt dat Sergio Perez contractverlenging kreeg bij Red Bull Racing. Gasly had stiekem gehoopt op een nieuwe kans bij het topteam. Die kans bleef dus uit maar Gasly keer de Red Bull-familie dus niet de rug toe. Ook aankomend seizoen zal hij weer schitteren bij AlphaTauri.

De Fransman is zelf ook te spreken over zijn eigen contractverlenging. Gasly is niet bezig met zijn beste seizoen maar is wel trots op zijn stoeltje. In het persbericht van zijn contractverlenging spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik ben nu al vijf jaar lang onderdeel van dit team en ik ben trots op onze reis en onze progressie. Ik ben blij dat ik aanblijf bij AlphaTauri. De nieuwe regels die dit seizoen gelden zorgen voor nieuwe uitdagingen. Dat we in staat zijn om ons de komende 18 maanden te focussen om de ontwikkeling van het team is een goede basis voor de toekomst."

Blij dat het gedrukt is, want liegen gaat hem niet goed af.
Al geloof ik best dat hij een beetje blij mag zijn, hoopte op een topplek maar dat gaat niet meer gebeuren.

Lijkt me sterk dat hij een contractverlenging heeft. Zijn contract liep immers al tot en met 2023.

  Ah dat wist ik niet, het is ook vermeld op de f1 s.i.t.e. of had hij een contract en werd er gesproken over ontbinding ervan?

Ik denk niet dat hij in 2023 voor AT rijdt. Hij heeft nu misschien iets getekend maar als er een ander team voorbij komt is hij weg. Zijn handtekening nu is een levensverzekering voor 2023 maar zijn hart ls niet meer bij AT, hij wil hogerop.

Het is geen contractverlenging. Geen idee wat het wel is. Een evaluatiemoment waarop hij afgekocht kon worden of een hoger salaris kon onderhandelen of iets dergelijks?
