'Netflix en Amazon grijpen naast Amerikaanse uitzendrechten'

De populariteit van de Formule 1 is in de afgelopen jaren flink gegroeid. Vooral in de Verenigde Staten is de sport steeds populairder geworden, het was een grote wens van de hoge heren van de sport. Aangezien steeds meer Amerikanen naar de sport kijken worden de uitzendrechten zeer interessant voor enkele grote aanbieders.

De Formule 1 wordt in de V.S uitgezonden door ESPN. Aangezien dit contract aan het einde van het huidige seizoen afloopt kwamen de gewilde uitzendrechten op de markt. Volgens de geruchten waren enkele zeer grote namen geïnteresseerd in de rechten. Onder andere streamingsdienst Netflix en Amazon hadden wel oren naar de Formule 1. Ook ESPN zelf wilde graag doorgaan met het uitzenden van de sport.

Volgens Sports Business Journal is de Formule 1 er uit met de uitzender voor de komende jaren. Volgens het medium heeft ESPN de uitzendrechten wederom bemachtigd. De zender zal de meeste races uitzenden op hun televisiekanaal maar vermoedelijk worden er ook races exclusief uitgezonden op hun streamingsplatform. Hierdoor is duidelijk waar de sport te zien zal zijn op de sterk groeiende markt. Volgens Sports Business Journal hebben Amazon en Netflix daadwerkelijk een bod uitgebracht maar besloot de Formule 1 niet met hen in zee te gaan.

Ik denk dat de belangstelling voor de f1 in Amerika juist, anders hadden grote partijen zoals amazon of neflix wel meer geboden.

Op zich logisch want met F1 TV Pro bieden ze net hetzelfde aan. Een reguliere TV zender benadert andere klanten en wil dus wel meer betalen.

Inmiddels merk ik dat de GP's hier (Canada) niet meer live worden uitgezonden, soms wel 6 uur later en met meer reclames die ook nog eens de race wegdrukken. Die betalen inmiddels ook minder en mogen waarschijnlijk niet meer live gaan.

Ik zal dus binnenkort ook overstappen naar TV Pro. Ben ik ook van de gekleurde Sky commentaren af.
