Red Bull onthult vervanger ontslagen derde coureur Vips

De Formule 1-teams moeten dit seizoen verplicht in minimaal twee vrijdagsessies een rookie inzetten. Dat betekent dus ook dat de topteams opzoek moeten naar talenten die klaar zijn voor het grote werk. Red Bull Racing had voor dit seizoen hun talent Jüri Vips geselecteerd, de Est fungeerde ook als derde rijder.

Afgelopen week werd Vips echter ontslagen door Red Bull. De Est gebruikte het N-woord tijdens een livestream op Twitch en Red Bull ontsloeg hem vanwege racistisch taalgebruik. Hiermee zadelde Red Bull zichzelf met een probleem op, Vips reed immers al een vrijdagtraining in Spanje en door het ontslag zat men zonder reservecoureur.

Lawson

In Silverstone liet Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner echter weten dat men al een andere coureur uit het reserveprogramma heeft geselecteerd als vervanger van Vips. Horner wordt geciteerd door de media-afdeling van de Formule 1: "Liam Lawson zal deze rol op zich nemen, dat komt vanzelfsprekend door onze beslissing omtrent Vips. Jehan Daruvala doet het ook goed en we volgen zijn progressie met bovengemiddelde interesse. Datzelfde geldt ook voor Dennis Hauger, allebei maken ze kans op een superlicentie."

Daruvala

Daruvala heeft in ieder geval al zijn eerste meter in een Formule 1-wagen gemaakt. De Indiër testte vorige week voor het team van McLaren op Silverstone. Horner benadruk dat hij echter nog steeds belangrijk is voor Red Bull: "We hebben een aantal veelbelovende junioren rondrijden op het moment. We hebben vanzelfsprekend Lawson en natuurlijk ook Hauger. Daruvala blijft onze juniorrijder ondanks dat hij voor een ander team heeft getest."

  Ik had vroeger een bloedhekel aan @Larry, toen hij opeens heel lang weg bleef, realiseerde ik mij dat Larry nooit echt een trol was en zeer zeker een f1 liefhebber is en er ook best verstand van heeft. Toen kwam Larry hier terug en kwam ik erachter dat ook hij fan van mijn idool is. Dus @Larry; forza Marcus!
