Sauber verlengt samenwerking met Alfa Romeo

F1-team Sauber heeft haar samenwerking met Alfa Romeo voor 2023 verlengd. De samenwerking tussen de twee partijen houdt in dat autofabrikant Alfa Romeo haar naam plakt op het F1-team dat gerund wordt en in eigendom is van Sauber. De CEO van Alfa Romeo Jean-Philippe Imparato maakte bekend dat de vernieuwing vanochtend getekend is.

Imparato zegt dat de Formule 1 een ‘school van uitmuntendheid’ is en meent dat het deel uitmaakt van de DNA van Alfa Romeo. Toch zegt Imparato dat Alfa Romeo, dat onderdeel is van Stellantis, het op drie na grootste autofabrikantenconcern ter wereld is, jaar op jaar beoordeelt of Alfa Romeo nog de volle interesse in de Formule 1 heeft: “Wanneer we in de toekomst ons realiseren dat onze deelname met Sauber in de Formule 1 financieel niet meer haalbaar is, dan zullen we knopen moeten doorhakken, maar wat er ook gebeurt, alles zal netjes verlopen”, sluit Imparato tegenover Reuters af.

Alfa Romeo staat momenteel op een nette zesde plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap en zal proberen die plek te verstevigen bij de Grand Prix van Hongarije aankomende zondag. Concurrent Haas, dat op de zevende plaats volgt met een verschil van zeventien punten, heeft dit weekend upgrades aangebracht op de auto van haar coureur Kevin Magnussen. Alfa Romeo-coureurs Valtteri Bottas en Zhou Guanyu zullen naar alle waarschijnlijkheid hun uiterste best moeten doen om punten te scoren.

Wat woorden uit het artikel.
- Samenwerking (Alsof ze inhoudelijk iets aan de auto bijdragen)
- Deelname aan de F1 (Alsof ze daadwerkelijk meedoen)
- Alfa interesse in de F1 (Alsof ze daadwerkelijk meedoen)
- Knopen doorhakken (alsof Sauber deze samenwerking zou missen buiten het financiële plaatje)

Lachwekkend. Zeg gewoon dat je het team sponsort, en dan is het ok. Niet meer ervan maken dan het werkelijk is. Al komt deze deal nog uit de tijd van Marchionne en dat Ferrari toen closer met Sauber zou werken en dus zaken als de koeling en dergelijke ook zou leveren en ook gebruik zou maken van de windtunnel van Sauber. Dus in hoeverre Alfa überhaupt zelfs met de sponsordeal echt wat te maken had....
