Opvallende zegereeks W Series-coureur Chadwick ten einde

In Hongarije komt dit weekend niet alleen de Formule 1 in actie. In het voorprogramma op de Hungaroring komt dit weekend bijvoorbeeld ook weer de W Series in actie, de klasse voor getalenteerde vrouwelijke coureurs. In tegenstelling tot de Formule 1 is er hier slechts één coureur die er met de kop en schouders bovenuit steekt: Jamie Chadwick.

Chadwick wist zeven races op rij op haar naam te schrijven. De Britse is dan ook de regerend wereldkampioene en lijkt klaar voor een stap hogerop. Ze werd dan ook gezien als de grote favoriet voor de W Series-race op de Hungaroring van gisteren. Ze moest de race echter wel vanaf de vijfde plaats starten, een inhaalrace was dus de opdracht.

Opvallend genoeg ging in de zege op het circuit nabij Boedapest niet naar Chadwick. De zegereeks van de bekendste W Series-coureur is dus gesneuveld. Ze kwam in Hongarije als tweede over de streep achter haar landgenote Alice Powell. Powell begon de race vanaf de pole position en mocht dus juichen. Het podium in de vrouwenklasse werd compleet gemaakt door de Nederlandse Beitske Visser.

    Vraag me af of het nou nog wat uithaalt deze serie.
    Ik geloof dat dit een beetje F3 / F4 mix is?
    Wat gaan de dames erna kunnen doen? Dan wordt het denk ik F2 maar daar zie ik geen topdames terecht komen, laat staan in F1. Jammer, leuk bedacht deze serie, maar zonder echt uitzicht, en zonder prijzengeld waar je F2 een seizoen mee kan doen. Heeft weinig zin zo.

      In de praktijk maakt deze klasse het alleen maar moeilijker voor vrouwen. Deze regionale f3 autos zijn zo verschrikkelijk langzaam dat een verschil maken bijna niet te doen is. Pas binnen 2 tienden kunnen ze elkaar inhalen... dat slaat nergens op.

      Als de fia serieus is, dan zouden ze een extra team moeten runnen in F2 die sowieso de W series kampioen en de F3 kampioen een plekje garandeerd.

      Mocht de f3 kampioen een plekje hebben gevonden, dan pak je bijv de #2 of #3 van de F3. Gewoon 1 stoeltje voor een F3 coureur en 1 voor een W series coureur.

      Die miljoen prijzengeld kan de fia net zo goed stoppen in de funding voor zon team. Laat t runnen door weet ik t Rosberg Racing ofzo.

      Eens maar dan ook in de F1 voor de F2 kampioen en een wildcard die gekozen wordt door de teambazen.
      Iets lastiger is de auto. Maar ook daar is wel een mouw aan te passen als de wil er is.
