Paul di Resta opgelucht na beëindigen van puntloze serie

Force India-coureur Paul di Resta behaalde in Hongarije zijn beste resultaat uit zijn jonge Formule 1-loopbaan. De Schot kwam als zevende over de finish. Hij kon dat ook wel gebruiken, na twee puntenfinishes in de eerste twee races stond hij sinds Maleisië droog.

Di Resta: Ik stond een beetje onder druk om weer eens punten te scoren. Maar aan de andere kant heb ik de afgelopen drie races zelf geen fouten gemaakt die me een mooi resultaat hebben gekost. Als hier opnieuw iets was gebeurd, dan was het een grote teleurstelling geweest. Een jaar bestaat altijd uit hoogte- en dieptepunten. Hopelijk hebben we nu een mindere fase afgesloten en klimmen we naar een nieuwe hoge piek.

Een spin van Lewis Hamilton verpestte bijna de race van Di Resta. Het was krap. Maar ik neem hem niets kwalijk. Hij heeft gezegd dat hij me niet gezien heeft en vroeg zich na afloop van de race nog af waarom hij een straf gekregen had. Als ik geen ontwijkende actie had ondernomen, dan was het op een ramp uitgelopen. Maar Lewis heeft zijn excuses aangeboden en ik begrijp waarom hij deed wat hij deed.
