Organisatie Australische Grand Prix onthult racedatum 2023

De Formule 1-kalender voor het aankomende seizoen begint steeds meer vorm te krijgen. Het was al bekend dat Las Vegas en Qatar aankomend seizoen terugkeren op de kalender. Eveneens lijkt het erop dat Zuid-Afrika een comeback gaat maken en dat België en Frankrijk van de kalender gaan verdwijnen. Eén Grand Prix heeft de datum voor 2023 nu officieel vastgelegd.

De organisatie van de Australische Grand Prix deelde gisteravond een bericht waarin ze hun data onthulde. Het Formule 1-circus keert aankomend seizoen terug in Melbourne in het eerste weekend van april. Op 30 maart worden de vrije trainingen verreden, op 1 april volgt de kwalificatie en de race wordt verreden op 2 april. Het lijkt er dus ook op dat Australië wederom niet de seizoensopener is.

De Australische Grand Prix was jarenlang de eerste race van de kalender. Nadat de Grand Prix last minute werd afgelast in coronajaar 2020, keerde de race in Melbourne pas dit seizoen terug op de kalender. De race werd dit seizoen gewonnen door Charles Leclerc en het weekend was een groot succes. Het was dit jaar de derde race van de kalender en de kans is groot dat men aankomend seizoen weer één of meerdere races voor zich moet dulden. De organisatie geeft overigens wel aan dat de FIA de datum nog moet goedkeuren.
