Vettel doet milieu-oproep aan Formule 1: "Deel van omzet investeren in promotors"

Viervoudig wereldkampioen Sebastian Vettel maakte enkele weken geleden bekend dat hij na dit seizoen met pensioen gaat. De Aston Martin-coureur hield zich in de afgelopen jaren al steeds meer bezig met activiteiten naast de baan. Vettel spreekt zich regelmatig uit over milieuzaken en hij zou dan ook graag zien dat de Formule 1 meer actie onderneemt.

Vettel spreekt zich steeds vaker uit over maatschappelijke onderwerpen. Naast het milieu gaf hij ook veel aandacht aan mensenrechten, de oorlog in Oekraïne en racisme. De Duitser droeg in Miami bijvoorbeeld en shirt waarmee hij aandacht vroeg voor de stijging van de zeespiegel. Ook zoekt hij naar alternatieve brandstoffen en verscheen hij in een talkshow om over het onderwerp te praten.

Groot publiek

De Aston Martin-coureur is dan ook van mening dat de Formule 1 meer maatregelen moet nemen op het gebied van milieuzaken. Tijdens de World eX, een e-sportskampioenschap dat uitstootvrije mobiliteit promoot, was hij duidelijk: "Een event waar veel mensen op afkomen moet voldoen aan de verantwoordelijkheden die bij deze tijd horen. De Formule 1 trekt een groot publiek. In de laatste jaren is de sport nog meer gegroeid, vooral in Noord-Amerika. Dat betekent dat er steeds meer mensen naar het circuit komen en dat men alles in goede banen moet leiden. Er is nog veel dat kan worden gedaan is vergelijking met andere evenementen. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan hoe mensen naar het event gaan."

Omzet

Vettel vindt dan ook dat het geld beter moet worden besteed aan milieuzaken. De viervoudig wereldkampioen heeft zelf over de zaak nagedacht en komt met een mogelijke oplossing: "Een deel van de omzet moeten we gaan investeren in de promotors. We moeten ze de kans geven om op het gebied van publiek en organisatie voor een betere, groenere en schonere oplossing te gaan."

Tsja...... er wordt iedere week in de Bundesliga per speeldronde ongeveer net zo veel brandstof verbrand om al het publiek en mensen die de wedstrijden mogelijk maken als bij alle F1 wedstrijden over een heel seizoen samen opgeteld.

Het vliegen van het F1 circus ff daar gelaten, maar ook in de voetballerij worden er vele vlieguurtjes gemaakt, dus dat kan je ook ergens wel tegen elkaar wegstrepen over een bepaalde periode gemeten.

Ik vraag me af of het wel een goed idee is om geld aan de promoters te geven. Als je ziet dat ze al moeilijk doen wanneer bezoekers meehelpen bij het afbreken van het circuit (Red Bull Ring) denk ik niet dat ze dit geld goed gaan besteden....
