Demonstranten Silverstone voor de rechter verschenen

De start van de Britse Grand Prix verliep dit seizoen zeer chaotisch. De race werd direct onderbroken na een bizarre crash van Guanyu Zhou in de eerste bocht. Iets verder op het circuit waren er ook nog eens een aantal demonstranten over een hek geklommen, ze gingen midden op het circuit zitten.

De crash van Zhou veroorzaakte een rode vlag en hierdoor konden de overige coureurs anticiperen op het groepje activisten. De situatie was desalniettemin zeer gevaarlijk, meerdere coureurs konden nog maar net op tijd uitwijken. De politie greep in en sleepte het groepje klimaatdemonstranten van de baan. De groep werd gearresteerd en gisteren verschenen ze voor het eerst voor de Britse rechter.

De groep bestond uit zes demonstranten tussen de 21 en 46 jaar. Alle zes de demonstranten worden verdacht van samenzwering met als doel het veroorzaken van overlast. Na de hoorzitting bleven twee van de zes demonstranten in hechtenis zitten. De rest van de groep mocht de rechtbank weer op vrije voeten verlaten. Op 3 oktober dit jaar gaat de zaak weer verder.

      Ik moest ook wel lachen om die ene held. Die zat aan de binnenkant van de baan, maar stond weer op en ging aan het randje van de baan zitten. De dames moesten het risico maar nemen. Dat was de echte zero.
