Het team van Mercedes viert dit weekend een bijzonder feestje. De regerend constructeurskampioen viert namelijk het 55-jarige jubileum van submerk AMG. Om dat te vieren rijden de coureurs met een aangepaste livery en prijkt de legendarische Red Pig-bolide op allerlei plekken in de Mercedes-onderkomens.

Voorafgaand de trainingen reden Lewis Hamilton, George Russell en teambaas Toto Wolff enkele rondjes over het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps. Russell kroop achter het stuur van een gloednieuwe Mercedes en Hamilton zag iets zeer opvallends aan de wagen van zijn teamgenoot. Russells wagen stond op slicks en de altijd competitieve Hamilton reageerde lachend.
