Pirelli luistert bij bandenselectie niet naar wensen van teams

Bandenleverancier Pirelli heeft ontkend dat het de oren bij de allocatie van compounds laat hangen naar de wensen van bepaalde renstallen. Het is wel opvallend dat voor de komende twee races de zachte en de medium band mee gaan, en niet de zachte en de hard band met de voorheen gebruikelijke stap tussen de compounds.

Dat heeft echter niets te maken met het feit dat Ferrari niet met de harde band overweg kan en Pirelli op het hart heeft gedrukt om die compound thuis te laten. Paul Hembery, motorsportbaas bij de Italiaanse bandenfabrikant, laat aan AS weten: Daar luisteren we niet naar. Aan het einde van mijn werkdag lees ik al deze verhalen in de pers, maar meer niet. Sommige compounds passen over het algemeen goed bij sommige teams, in andere gevallen is het afhankelijk van het weer en het circuit. Dat soort dingen is moeilijk te generaliseren.
