Vettel wil niet denken aan afscheidstournee: "Ik haat dat woord"

Sebastian Vettel kondigde vlak voor de zomerstop zijn afscheid van de sport aan. De Duitse viervoudig wereldkampioen hangt zijn helm na dit seizoen aan de wilgen en wordt bij Aston Martin opgevolgd door Fernando Alonso. Vettel probeert nog te genieten van zijn laatste maanden in de Formule 1.

De Duitser is al sinds 2007 actief in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Vettel rijdt sinds vorig jaar voor het team van Aston Martin. De Britse renstal in Canadese handen is echter nog niet de succesformule die men had verwacht. Vettel gaat er dan ook mee stoppen maar hij wil niet dat men zijn laatste wedstrijden als een soort afscheid gaan beschouwen.

Afscheidstournee

Wat Vettel na dit seizoen gaat doen is nog niet bekend. Wel is duidelijk dat de Duitse Aston Martin-coureur geen groot fan is van het begrip 'afscheidstournee'. In gesprek met Sky Sports spreekt hij zijn afschuw voor die term uit: "Ik haat dat woord. Ik zie het niet op die manier. Ik maak mijn seizoen af en daarna gaat het gewoon door. Het gaat voor mij niet door met nog meer races maar er gaat iets gebeuren. Daarom zie ik het niet als een afscheidstournee, het zit er dan gewoon op."

Niet niets doen

Vettel telt de dagen tot zijn pensioen niet af. De Duitser kijkt juist met een positief gevoel naar de komende wedstrijden en is nog heel onduidelijk over zijn toekomstperspectief: "Ik kijk uit naar de komende races. Eerst komt er niets. Ik denk dat het daarna niet mogelijk is dat ik ga zitten en niets ga doen. Ik ben daar trouwens ook niet echt het type voor."

Tja afscheid nemen bestaat niet/........... wat wel duidelijk is dat Haas inmiddels afscheid genomen heeft van Mick (ingaande nieuwe seizoen) althans als ik de berichten moet geloven, das helemaal zuur voor Vettel aangezien hij Mick als Protegé ziet

Tante Agaath uit Warmetuut heeft inmiddels al laten weten dat Vettel de komende jaren het WK Kantklossen nog wel op zijn buik kan schrijven.

Zelfs een viervoudig wereldkampioen F1 zal daarvoor eerst voldoende licentiepunten moeten verzamelen in de opstapklassen, zoals het WK Breien, het WK Haken en/of het WK Punniken...

Vettel wil het hier graag bij laten..zijn hoogtepunt van ze afscheidstournee was afgelopen weekend in de bossen van Spa! Toen hij op brute wijzen dubbel genomen werd door twee Fransmannen!!
