Mercedes onthult nieuwe simulatorcoureur

Veel teams maken tegenwoordig gebruik van een simulatorcoureur. In de simulator wordt er vaak belangrijk werk verricht voor het Grand Prix-weekend en worden er bijvoorbeeld al enkele set-ups uitgetest. Veel teams hebben meerdere simcoureurs onder contract staan en Mercedes onthulde deze week een nieuwe naam.

GT-coureur Charlie Eastwoord onthulde gister op Twitter dat hij simulatorcoureur is voor het Formule 1-team van Mercedes. Eastwood rijdt op de circuits voor Aston Martin en won in 2020 bijvoorbeeld de 24 uur van Le Mans in zijn klasse. Nu heeft hij dus ook de taak om Lewis Hamilton en George Russell bij te staan vanuit de simulator op het Mercedes-hoofdkwartier.
