24 uur van Le Mans blij met uitblijven F1-clash in 2023

De FIA onthulde gisteren dat het World Motor Sport Council de Formule 1-kalender voor 2023 heeft goedgekeurd. Aankomend seizoen werkt de koningsklasse een recordbrekend seizoen van 24 Grands Prix af. Opvallend genoeg is er aankomend jaar geen clash met de legendarische 24 uur van Le Mans.

De 24 uur van Le Mans van 2023 belooft een zeer bijzondere editie te worden. In 2023 viert men namelijk het honderdjarig bestaan van de autosportklassieker. Men hoopte in Le Mans dan ook dat de FIA en de Formule 1 rekening zouden houden met het feestje dat men in 2023 wil gaan vieren. De vreugde was dan ook groot na de bekendmaking van de kalender.

De 24 uur van Le Mans vindt volgend jaar plaats in het weekend van 10 en 11 juni. Het Formule 1-circus is dan een weekje vrij. President Pierre Fillon van de Automobile Club de l'Ouest spreekt zich tevreden uit in een persbericht: "Alle fans van enduranceracerij zullen blij zijn dat er geen Grand Prix is ingepland in het weekend van de 24 uur van Le Mans. Ik wil de FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem en de FOM bedanken voor deze belangrijke beslissing."
