24 uur van Spa verschoven vanwege clash met F1-kalender

Gisteren maakte de FIA bekend dat het World Motor Sport Council de Formule 1-kalender voor 2023 heeft goedgekeurd. De kalender voor aankomend seizoen kent een recordaantal van 24 Grands Prix en dat zorgt voor een drukke kalender. De organisatie van de 24 uur van Spa moest dan ook ingrijpen.

Toen de kalender gistermiddag werd gepresenteerd viel er iets op. De Belgische Grand Prix staat namelijk op de planning voor het laatste weekend van juli. Normaal gesproken is dit het weekend van de 24 uur van Spa-Francorchamps. De organisatie van de langeafstandsrace moest dan ook ingrijpen. De gehele kalender van de GT World Challenge, waar de 24 uur van Spa onderdeel van is, moest op de schop.

Als snel kwam de organisatie van dit kampioenschap met een aangepaste kalender naar buiten. Aangezien de gehele kalender van de GT World Challenge is opgebouwd rondom de 24 uursrace moest alles op d schop. Al snel maakte men de nieuwe kalender bekend. De 24 uur van Spa-Francorchamps wordt aankomend jaar verreden op 1 en 2 juli.
