Ferrari wil 2023 afsluiten in stijl: "We hopen dat het in Austin begint"

Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc willen het seizoen positief aansluiten. De eerste uitdaging begint in de Verenigde Staten waar beide Ferrari-coureurs het altijd naar hun zin hebben vanwege het lekkere eten, dolenthousiaste fans en de bijzondere lay-out van het circuit in Austin.

"Je kunt je voorstellen dat ik dol ben op de lokale keuken, omdat ik een fan ben van de hamburger, maar eigenlijk is de hele sfeer hier erg leuk", bevestigde Carlos Sainz. "Ik denk dat de trip naar Austin een van de mooiste van het seizoen is vanwege de sfeer en het enthousiasme van het thuispubliek. De baan heeft ook veel afwisseling en is echt mooi, dus we zijn erg blij om hier te racen", voegde Charles toe.

Tijdens de FIA-persconferentie donderdag legde Sainz de journalisten uit hoe het team van plan is de laatste paar races van het seizoen te benaderen. "We zullen deze komende Grands Prix gebruiken om ons zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden op 2023, op zoek naar elke kans die zich voordoet om een race te winnen", zei hij. “Om eerlijk te zijn, zou ik dat liever doen dan George (Russell) voor te zijn in het kampioenschap. Ik begrijp de F1-75 steeds beter en ik zou er nog steeds goede resultaten mee willen behalen."

Leclerc had soortgelijke gevoelens toen hij met de media in de paddock sprak. "We hebben gezien dat er nog werk aan de winkel is, omdat onze auto in sommige omstandigheden heeft laten zien dat hij enkele tekortkomingen heeft. Ik denk dat we het meeste uit dit laatste deel van het seizoen moeten halen om beter voorbereid aan de start van het volgende seizoen te komen", zei hij. Natuurlijk wil ik het jaar in stijl afsluiten en we hopen dat dat hier kan beginnen."
