Audi trots op Sauber-deal: "Trots dat we zo'n ervaren partner hebben gevonden"

Het nieuws hing al eventjes in de lucht maar is vandaag officieel geworden: Audi en Sauber gaan vanaf 2026 samenwerken waardoor Sauber dus een fabrieksteam wordt. Bij Audi is men zeer trots op de deal en Sauber wordt gezien als de ideale partner voor het Formule 1-project.

Het nieuws over de samenwerking tussen Audi en Sauber hing al eventjes in de lucht. Voorafgaand de Belgische Grand Prix kondigde Audi hun komst naar de koningsklasse van de autosport al aan, het was toen al de verwachting dat de Sauber-aankondiging niet lang meer op zich liet wachten. Ongeveer twee maanden later is deze deal dus officieel bekend gemaakt.

Bij Audi is men in de wolken met de aankondiging. Vanaf 2026 gaat Audi de motoren ontwikkelen en blijft Sauber verantwoordelijk voor de ontwikkeling van de auto. Audi-kopstuk Oliver Hoffmann spreekt zich uit in een persbericht: "We zijn trots dat we zo'n ervaren en goede partner hebben gevonden voor ons ambitieus Formule 1-plan. We kennen de Sauber Group en hun buitengewone faciliteiten en hun ervaren team al uit eerdere samenwerkingen. We zijn ervan overtuigd dat we samen een sterk team kunnen vormen."

Blijft de naam Sauber dan in stand gehouden of wordt het dan Audi F1 team oid.?
Met BMW was Sauber nog wel aanwezig in de team naam en was het ook een fabrieksteam.
