Shwartzman verklaart Israëlische racelicentie: "Uiteindelijk wil ik racen"

Sinds dit seizoen zijn alle Formule 1-teams verplicht om minimaal twee keer een rookie in te zetten in een vrije training. Het team van Ferrari koos voor de diensten van Robert Shwartzman. Shwartzman reed in Austin de eerste vrije training. Hij deed dat onder de Israëlische vlag, een keuze waar hij zich niet zo druk om maakt.

Shwartzman reed tot en met vorig jaar nog rond onder de Russische vlag. Toen de FIA begin dit jaar strenge eisen introduceerde voor Russische coureurs na aanleiding van de oorlog in Oekraïne, nam Shwartzman snel een besluit. De Ferrari-junior is immers geboren in Israël en beschikt dan ook over een Israëlisch paspoort.

Tel Aviv

Voor Shwartzman was het geen moeilijke keuze, de trainingscoureur maakt er dan ook geen probleem van. Shwartzman legt zijn keuze uit bij sport.ru: "Ik ben geboren in Tel Aviv. De familie van mijn vader komt uit Israël, hij was zelf ook een Israëliër. Ik heb de eerste drie jaar van mijn leven gewoond in Tel Aviv, daarna verhuisde we naar Rusland. Toen ik begon met karten vond mijn vader dat ik een Russische licentie moest gebruiken omdat we in Rusland woonden."

Racer

Toen Rusland begin dit jaar Oekraïne binnenviel was de keuze voor Shwartzman dan ook snel gemaakt. Hij omzeilde hiermee de maatregelen van autosportfederatie FIA: "Ik heb altijd al een Israëlisch paspoort gehad. Toen de situatie tussen Rusland en Oekraïne verslechterde besloot ik een Israëlische racelicentie aan te vragen. Uiteindelijk wil ik gewoon een racer zijn en wil ik de Formule 1 bereiken."

Prima toch? Ho-Pin Tung reed met een Chinesicentie en er is in de F1 momenteel ook een Belg die onder de Nederlandse vlag rijdt.

  Informeer je eens goed, maak je jezelf tenminste niet belachelijk. Max Verstappen heeft enkel de NL nationaliteit sinds zijn 18de.

  Correctie naar mijzelf, hij heeft sinds zijn 18de beiden nationaliteiten. Feit blijft hetzelfde, hij is geen Belg die onder Nederlandse vlag rijdt, hij is namelijk een Belg en Nederlander die onder de Nederlandse vlag rijdt.

  Max Verstappen vroeg direct toen hij achttien jaar werd een Nederlands paspoort aan, zodat hij ook op papier Nederlander kon worden. De regerend wereldkampioen, die een Nederlandse vader en een Belgische moeder heeft, ging donderdag daags voor het Grand Prix-weekend in Zandvoort in op zijn beide nationaliteiten.

  z'n wiegje stond toch echt in Hasselt en als Belg geboren en het grootste gedeelte van z'n leven de Belgische nationaliteit gehad.
  Ik snap nooit zo goed dat mensen zoals jij m zo krampachtig als Nederlander claimen. Wat maakt t uit? Is gewoon een fantastische coureur, met een Nederlands en Belgisch paspoort.
  Dubbele nationaliteit, net als Shwartzman, die weer net ff meer Rus dan Israeli is.

  alflonzo, Ik claim helemaal niks, al was hij van Oezbekistan...Ik vertel enkel hoe de feiten in elkaar steken. Hij heeft beiden nationaliteiten, zoals jij ook zegt, dus?
  
  Waarom ik mij eerder vergiste is door het nieuws toendertijd toen hij 18 werd, toen kwam in het nieuws dat hij gekozen had voor de Nederlandse nationaliteit. Nu in een recent interview vertelde hij dat hij beiden nationaliteiten hebben.
  
  Overigens kun je THW ook even terechtwijzen dan als je toch bezig bent ;)

  Hoezo moet THW terechtgewezen worden? Het is toch echt een belg die onder Nederlandse vlag rijdt. Hij heeft ook een Belgisch paspoort heb je zelf ook vastgesteld. Als het in bezit zijn van een NL paspoort je een Nederlander maakt, zal een Belgisch paspoort je dan toch ook Belg maken volgens die logica. Wel scherp blijven Vade ;)
