Hamilton dankt Brazilianen na benoeming tot ereburger

Lewis Hamilton arriveerde deze week al vroeg in Brazilië. De Britse Mercedes-coureur ging niet al vroeg naar het circuit of een sponsorevenement, Hamilton moest zich melden bij het Braziliaanse parlement. Hamilton was namelijk aanwezig bij een speciale ceremonie waarin hij werd benoemd tot ereburger van Brazilië.

Eerder dit jaar werd hij al uitgeroepen tot ereburger maar hij had zijn onderscheidingen nog niet in ontvangst kunnen nemen. Aangezien aankomend weekend de Braziliaanse Grand Prix op het programma staat, kwam het nu goed uit. In zijn speech toonde hij zijn dankbaarheid en op sociale media doet hij dat nog even dunnetjes over. Hij is daar eerlijk: "Brazilië, uit de grond van mijn hart: bedankt. Bedankt en nogmaals bedankt!"
