Gasly 'vol in de aanval' bij laatste Grands Prix van seizoen

Pierre Gasly heeft tot dusver een bewogen seizoen achter de rug. Vooral de laatste twee Grands Prix staan hem uiteraard nog vers in het geheugen. Het waren scenario’s waarin de Fransoos kansen had om punten te scoren, maar vanwege tijdstraffen er uiteindelijk geen binnenhaalde. De performance van de AlphaTauri in de afgelopen paar races geeft Gasly echter het vertrouwen om zijn laatste twee Grands Prix voor het Italiaanse team succesvol af te sluiten.

‘Ik hoop dat we ook dit weekend in de top tien kunnen vechten’, vertelt Pierre Gasly over de één-na-laatste race van het seizoen, op circuit Interlagos. Bij zowel de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten als de Mexicaanse incasseerde Gasly tijdstraffen, maar ook penalty punten. Nog maar twee punten los staand van een racediskwalificatie moet de Fransoos, die vanaf volgend seizoen voor het team van Alpine zal gaan rijden, op zijn hoede zijn en ervoor zorgen dat hij uit de problemen blijft.

Toch wekt Gasly de indruk dat hij niet van plan is om de race kalmpjes te doorstaan. “(In) De laatste twee races zal ik vol aanvallen omdat ik gemotiveerd ben door ons niveau van de afgelopen races”, doelend op de potentiële puntenscores die de coureur had kunnen pakken wanneer er geen straffen werden uitgedeeld. “Toegegeven, ik heb beide keren straffen gekregen en vandaar heb ik geen punten kunnen scoren, maar in beide gevallen vochten we voor de top tien. Ik hoop dat dit de aankomende races ook het geval zal zijn”, vertelt Gasly strijdlustig.

De Grands Prix van Brazilië en Abu Dhabi staan nog op de kalender. Op het gebied van positie in het rijdersklassement kan de Fransoos nog voorbij komen aan Kevin Magnussen, die boven hem staat op plek dertien. De voornamelijke motivator voor Gasly zal zijn om een goede prestatie voor zichzelf en het team neer te zetten en zijn werk bij de laatste races voort te zetten richting zijn nieuwe team voor volgend seizoen, Alpine.

Gasly lijkt een beetje krampachtig aan zijn status te werken. En het werkt niet in zijn voordeel.

AT valt behoorlijk tegen dit seizoen, zowel het team inclusief de techniek en het ontwerp als beide rijders.

De beuk erin, hoppetee. En dan schorsing krijgen, lekker op vakantie, Nyck in AD laten rijden en bij Alpine met schone lei beginnen.
De vraag is wie een beuk gaat krijgen. Voor de sfeer binnen Alpine wellicht leuk als hij Ocon een duwtje geeft.

  het zou mij niks verbazen al lijkt mij de kans groter dat hij in de race een McL te grazen gaat nemen! zou zomaar Ricciardo kunne zijn! dan kan zijn entree bij Alpine iig niet meer stuk!
