Video: Drugovich maakt thuisfans blij met gesigneerde Aston Martin petjes

F2-kampioen Felipe Drugovich maakt officieel deel uit van het Formule 1 team van Aston Martin. Afgelopen weekend werd de Braziliaanse Grand Prix verreden op circuit Interlagos. De race betekende een uitgelezen kans voor Drugovich om zijn thuisfans te trakteren op wat gesigneerde Aston Martin kledij.

De uitbreiding van Aston Martin’s tentakels in de Formule 1 werd in september van dit jaar weer goed zichtbaar. Het kondigde aan – naast de vorig jaar aangekondigde bouw van een eigen windtunnel en fabriek in Silverstone – dat het Felipe Drugovich heeft toegevoegd aan haar nieuwe rijdersontwikkelingsprogramma. Het programma heeft de missie om haar junioren de push richting de Formule 1 te geven. Bij de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi dit weekend zal Drugovich voor het eerst in een officiële Formule 1-sessie deelnemen door in vrije training één in de auto van Lance Stroll te springen.

De koningsklasse van de motorsport heeft een sterke band met Brazilië. Het Fitipaldi, Piquet en Senna-tijdperk heeft het land omgetoverd tot een basis van miljoenen Formule 1 fans. Inmiddels is het al even geleden dat Brazilië in de Formule 1 werd vertegenwoordigd; Felipe Massa was de laatste fulltime coureur die de iconische groen-gele vlag droeg. De mate waarin Aston Martin zich in de Formule 1 ontwikkelt zou kunnen betekenen dat Drugovich in de komende jaren een redelijke kans heeft om een voltijd F1-coureur te worden die de Braziliaanse nationaliteit draagt. In de video is het in elk geval al duidelijk dat er genoeg fans zijn die wachten op een Drugovich-debuut in de Formule 1.
